Part of what makes chemistry such a fun science are memorable chemistry demonstrations! Is there a particular chemistry demonstration that stands out for you as 'the best ever'? Share Your Favorite

Several interesting ones

Reaction of lithium, sodium, then potassium with water. Burning of ammonium dichromate. Ignition of aluminium powder and iodine with a few drops of water. Melting of gallium spoon. Jelly bear in potassium chlorate, molten. Aluminium foil and hydrochloric acid.

Favorite Reactions

My favorite has to be the "Old Nassau". :) I'm a chemistry teacher and do some really neat demos with the kids but for SOME reason they always want to see that one.

Sulfuric Acid and Sugar

I have lots of favorites, but one of the best has to be the reaction between sulfuric acid and sugar, producing a growing column of black carbon and a smell somewhat of sulfuric acid and somewhat of caramel.
