What I Did:
I am not sure if this is a poisoning. I spend allot of time in the kitchen baking things. I am told that the poor combustion in my gas range has produced Carbon Monoxide among other things. I am not sure what chemicals I breathed in.
How I Did It:
I felt sick so I went to the doctor with flu like symptoms. (found out later that the CO had gotten into my body and caused these). The burner in the oven was the problem because it was never burning efficiently. I did not know that I was in trouble because they were only flu like symptoms.
Lessons Learned
- I learned about CO and how dangerous it is.
- I learned about my gas range (comes NAT gas converted to LP gas but not converted to my altitude, which is 8,500')
- I learned that my range/oven is only one of so many that are not burning properly.
- I learned how to fix my oven.(combustion analyzer reading on start up was 1200 PPM then settled down to 550. After fix 8 PPM.)
- My tips to all is 1. ventilate the kitchen when oven is on 2. never use range/oven to heat with. 3. breath in fresh air during baking (leave the room) 4. Have your range/oven fixed by a professional.
