Silver is the 47th element on the periodic table. It is located in period 5 and group 11. This places it in the middle of the second full row (period) of the table.

Silver Properties Based on Location

This location places silver in the transition metal group. If you didn't have any experience with silver, you could still predict it would behave much like its congeners, copper and gold. Like other transition metals, silver is a good thermal and electrical conductor. While copper and gold are colored metals, silver is white. This is a property that could be predicated based on the element's electron configuration.
