Dmitri Mendeleev invented a periodic table which ordered elements according to atomic weight.

Dmitri Mendeleev (Mendeleyev), a Russian chemist, was the first scientist to make a periodic table similar to the one we use today. Mendeleev noticed the elements exhibited periodic properties when they were arranged in order of increasing atomic weight.
