Nitrogen is the seventh element on the periodic table. It is located in period 2 and group 15. It is at the top of the periodic table, between carbon and oxygen.

Nitrogen Family

Nitrogen and the elements directly below it on the table are the nitrogen family. The other elements in the family are phosphorus, arsenic, antimony, bismuth, and moscovium. Elements in this group are characterized by having 5 valence electrons. This gives rise to their other name -- the pentels.
