List of Inorganic and Organometallic Compounds

By Anne Marie Helmenstine, Ph.D., About.com

This is a list of inorganic compounds. It includes organometallic compounds, but does not include minerals. These are compounds that are known to exist, as opposed to compounds that theoretically could exist, just because the mass and charges balance. The compounds are listed primarily by their IUPAC systematic names, though some common traditional names are also included. Please refer to the element symbols chart if you are uncertain of the one- or two-letter abbreviation for the elements in the compounds. The list will become more comprehensive over time.
