Richard August Carl Emil Erlenmeyer (also just known as Emil Erlenmeyer) was a German chemist.

Claim to Fame:
Erlenmeyer was a German chemist who is best known for the invention of the glassware flask that bears his name. He also was the first to synthesize several organic compounds such as: tyrosine, guanidine, creatine, and creatinine. In 1880, he outlined Erlenmeyer's Rule which states that all alcohols in which a hydroxyl group attached directly to a double-bonded carbon atom will become aldehydes or ketones.
