Tonic Water Fluorescence

From Anne Marie Helmenstine, Ph.D., About.com

Tonic water is a carbonated soft drink that is flavored with quinine. The quinine is fluorescent.

An example of fluorescence. Tonic water is clear under normal light, but vividly fluorescent under ultraviolet light, due to the presence of the quinine used as a flavoring.
