Smoke bombs are cool; so are Halloween jack-o-lanterns. What do you think happens when you combine the two? You get a jack-o-lantern that belches out a ton of smoke!
Smoke Bomb Jack-o-Lantern Materials
- carved pumpkin
- 3 tablespoons potassium nitrate
- 2 tablespoons sugar
Create Your Smoke Bomb Jack-o-Lantern
- Carve your jack-o-lantern. It doesn't matter whether you have a face or just an opening at the top, but you need one or more holes for the smoke to escape. I do not advise performing this project using an artificial jack-o-lantern since the smoke bomb could ignite a synthetic pumpkin.
- Make smoke bombs. Basically this involves melting 3 tablespoons potassium nitrate with 2 tablespoons sugar over low heat. You can make one big smoke bomb if you like, but I think you'll have more fun if you separate the mixture out into 3-5 smaller smoke bombs.
- Set a smoke bomb inside the jack-o-lantern and use a long-handled lighter to ignite it. That's all there is to it! Repeat as needed. Happy Halloween!
