Claim to Fame:

Berg is an American biochemist who was awarded half the 1980 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work with nucleic acids and the creation of the first recombinant DNA molecules. Recombinant DNA is a method of combining DNA molecules to produce a strand with desirable traits. This discovery created the field of genetic engineering.
