Takamine was a Japanese-American biochemist who was the first to isolate the hormone adrenalin, or epinephrine from the suprarenal gland. It was the first pure hormone to be isolated from natural sources. He was also a prime contributors to plant flowering cherry trees as a gift to Washington D.C.
