Emilio Segré:

Emilio Segré was an Italian-American physicist and Nobel laureate.

Birth:

February 1, 1905 in Tivoli, Italy

Death:

April 22, 1989 in Lafayette, California

Claim to Fame:

Segré discovered the first man made element, technetium and the element of astatine. He was also awarded the 1959 Nobel Prize in Physics with Owen Chamberlain for their discovery of the antiproton, or negatively charged proton.
