Realistic Stage Blood

You can make realistic non-toxic stage blood using common kitchen ingredients. This blood is thick enough to drip convincingly. Adjust the recipe to get the desired color for fresh blood or old blood.

Stage Blood Ingredients

• corn syrup
• red food coloring
• blue, green and yellow food coloring (optional)
• cocoa powder (optional)

Make Stage Blood

The basic recipe is:

1/4 cup white corn syrup
4-6 drops red food coloring

This yields a bright red blood. The corn syrup is sticky and the red food coloring will stain, so only apply this blood to people, clothing you don't mind having blood-stained, and washable surfaces. You can mix in a bit of cocoa for a richer, more coagulated appearance. Adding in a drop or two of green or blue and yellow food coloring will also deepen the red to a more realistic blood color.
