Absorptivity Definition

Definition: Absorptivity is the absorption cross section or extinction coefficient. Absorptivity varies with wavelength and is defined as the absorbance of a solution per unit path length and concentration:

a = A/(bc)

where a is absorptivity, A is absorbance, b is path length, and c is the concentration
