Question: What Is the AP Program?
You may have heard about the AP or Advanced Placement Program, but aren't quite sure what it is. Here's an overview of the AP Program.
Answer: The AP Program or Advanced Placement Program is a set of courses that high school students can take for college credit. There are over 30 AP college-level exams that students can take based on AP courses that are offered at over 10,000 schools in the US, Canada, and over 60 other countries. Over 3,000 colleges accept the AP exams for college credit.
The College Board coordinates the AP Program, deciding which subjects are available for AP credit and how they will be taught and tested. AP exams are administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS), the group that also administers the SAT.
