You missed some questions, but you can learn to identify the strong and weak acids and bases. The key is to learn the short lists of strong acids and strong bases. If you encounter a molecule that isn't a strong acid or base, all you have to do is determine whether it's an acid or a base (you already know it's weak). Acids are proton (or hydrogen) donors, while bases can accept a proton or hydrogen. Many of the weak bases contain nitrogen (N) atoms (although nitric acid does too).

Good job! You know how to identify acids and bases and tell whether they are strong or weak. If you're unsure of yourself, you may wish to review how acid and base strength works. You can also test yourself to see how well you know the formulas and names of common acids. Ready for another chemistry quiz? See whether you can identify common types of lab glassware.
