Have you ever noticed how bugs avoid the bug zapper, even though it may be crammed-to-bursting with tasty bug-barbeque? The same holds true for any dead bug you may have in your house. The cat might bat at it, but other bugs will leave the deceased in peace. Why is this? It turns out the smell of (bug) death repels others bugs. Researchers have discovered you can keep cockroaches (insects, yes I know the difference, but let's just call them bugs here) at bay by smearing dead cockroach guts as a repellent. The active ingredient consists of fatty acids formed during the decay process. These fatty acids also repel ants and caterpillars as well as buggy crustaceans like woodlice and pillbugs. While the chemicals are smelly to cockroaches and other arthropods, the levels that repel bugs aren't offensive to humans. This particular natural bug repellent may sound pretty nasty, but if you find a dead cockroach (for example) in your house, you can help keep its friends away by scattering the remains. Of course, it's likely the reason dead bugs repel other bugs is because death can signal the presence of poison or disease, so this isn't something I'd recommend testing in your kitchen.Natural Insect Repellent Recipe | What Is the Most Venomous Insect?

may i just add that your method does not work, for my home. THE ANTS ARE PRANCING AROUND WITH THE COCKROACH CARCUSES LIKE TROPHIES!!!! yes, its time for professional help, but just so you know… MY ants are not deterred by the odor of ‘death’. LOL
I do think ants eat dead cockroaches, however, unless you want they eating a dead you, don’t get professional assistance! Despite all their claims of harmlessness, the poisons they use are deadly not just to bugs, and we already are exposed to too many poisions in our water, clothes, sheets, lipstick (lead) etc.
Just get a ’spritzer’ bottle that can spray a shower of water, and add some liquid soap, shake it up and feel free to spray the ants away! You’ll not only already have the soap for countertop cleaning down, but the ants you spray will drown within seconds, as the soap breaks up the water tension so the water can get into their little hollow legs etc, through which they breathe! This works great! Also, if you see a column of ants, you can follow it to the origin (behind a sink or from behind a window sill etc.) and spray the heck out the the place they are getting in.
Hope this helps!
The informations are very interesting and beneficial for my whole family, we follow it. Thanks a lot.
