This eyeball cake is easy to decorate. (Anne Helmenstine)

Isn't it time you threw a mad scientist party? It doesn't need to be extravagant or complicated. The recipes are so easy you can do them just for fun anytime, without needing a party or other special event as a reason. For example, this eyeball cake requires no special equipment or skills to make. Another easy cake is a volcano cake. If you have access to dry ice, you can make the volcano cake into a spectacular centerpiece by causing it to 'smoke', otherwise it's simple to model an eruption.

One of the best parts of these cakes is they are sufficiently easy and interesting kids will want to help or possibly make them themselves. Cooking and chemistry are related disciplines, so fostering an interest in cooking encourages an interest in science... except these are scientific creations you can eat.

Do you know of any other quick and easy science-looking cakes or other foods? Feel free to post a recipe or description.
