Apple seeds contain trace amounts of poison. (Getty Images)Apples belong to the same plant family as roses, almonds, cherries and peaches. The seeds of all of these plants contain a glycoside called amygdalin that can cause cyanide poisoning. While bitter almonds contain dangerous levels of benzaldehyde and cyanide (from 4-9 mg of hydrogen cyanide per almond), how about apple seeds? Are they poisonous?
