Water is wet, right? It turns out it doesn't have to be! According to the Telegraph, Dr. Ben Carter and team at the University of Liverpool have developed a process for making dry water. The dry water consists of a water drop that is surrounded by a thin coating of silica. 95% of dry water is liquid water, except the coating allows the water to behave more like a powder. The dry water exhibits somewhat different properties from normal water, which will allow for the development of new reactions and technologies, such as more effective greenhouse gas scrubbers and novel dry emulsions for the storage of potentially dangerous liquids.
