I like fluoride in my toothpaste, but I'm opposed to fluoridation of public drinking water and prefer not to drink it. Even if fluoride hasn't been added to your water, it may contain fluoride anyway. If you don't want to drink fluoridated water, you have a couple of options. You can buy bottled water that has been purified using reverse osmosis or distillation. If neither of those purification processes is specifically listed on the package, assume the water is fluoridated. Your other option is to remove the fluoride from water yourself. You
can't boil it out -- that actually concentrates the fluoride in the remaining water. Most home water filters won't take out fluoride. The types of filters that
do remove fluoride are activated alumina filters, reverse osmosis units, and distillation setups. Of course, you ingest fluoride through more than just water. If you're trying to cut back on your intake, I've put together a list of ways you can
reduce your fluoride exposure.
As a side note, when you're buying bottled water, keep in mind 'distilled water' is not always suitable for use as drinking water. There may be nasty impurities in distilled water that are bad for you. So, using a product labeled 'distilled drinking water' is fine. Drinking any old distilled water... not such a great plan.

Odd… because when I lived in NYC, not only did the water taste better but my teeth were in better shape too. Now that I live in PA where they think that flouride is this HORRIBLE thing, the water tastes like… well… you-know-what and I can’t even go 6 months without getting a cavity!
Now I’m pregnant and GUESS WHAT??? I NEED to drink water with fluoride in it. How that’s going to happen? I don’t know. I dont know were your getting your info from, but flouride is an industrial waste product and is even more toxic than lead. you should NOT give anything with flouride in it to babies, children, or when your pregnaunt!
Flouride replaces the calcium your teeth and bones use witch make them brittle, thats the reason why our teeth rot faster, and our bones eventualy weaken causing arthritis.
Saliva helps reminerize teeth naturaly, having a decent calcium intake helps. Salt can kill bacteria as easily as any toothpaste. Also flouride has been shown to damage the brain.

The best way to remove fluoride from all of our lives is through political activism. If you remove fluoride from your personal water source, you will probably still ingest fluoridation chemicals via supermarket and restaurant foods made with tap water.

I think this article and the one that explains how to reduce fluoride exposure are missing the biggest and easiest way to reduce it… stop using toothpaste that contains it. If you are trying to reduce exposure and you are using toothpaste that contains it then you are an idiot.
Did you know that you just overdosed on the EPA suggested limits of flouride this morning when you ate cereal, milk and a glass of orange juice for breakfast? This is way more flouride than what’s in a tube of toothpaste and you are ingesting it, not just rinsing it out of your mouth. Because flouride is added to drinking water, it is in all our processed foods too and they don’t even have to report it on the nutrition label. In addition, the chemical they add to our water is a byproduct of fertilizers and pesticides. I like to think that the toothpaste is using a pharmaceutical grade flouride instead, but I don’t really know for sure. Either way it’s important for us to unite and say no to unnecessary flouride in our drinking water. It’s effects occur overtime so you won’t even notice weakened teeth and bones, yellow or brown spots on your teeth, especially in kids. New studies are questioning the belief that it helps prevent tooth decay. They are saying it doesn’t really help and may cause harm. But I don’t need a study to tell me that, I personally noticed that every time I start using a fluoride toothpaste/mouthwash my problems with my teeth get worse.
I resent the fact that we do not get a choice about it being added to our drinking water. They should stop adding it and let those who for some reason want it in their water could buy bottled water with it. (Bottled water without it isn’t easy to find in my area)

I used to live in a location in Texas that had naturally occuring flouride in the water. As a kid, it was possible to see which families drank bottled water. The kids with bad teeth drank the city water. Flouride will cause skeletal problems which will show up in the teeth. Flouride, bromide and chloride will all also

HI, I read a comment by a chemist that says Hydrofluoric acid forms when you have some sodium fluoride in water, by means of Hydrogen bonds between Fluoride and Hydrogen. I think this is impossible because Hydrofluoric acid is a ionic compound, (like Fluoride Sodium of Chloride Sodium) not formed by weak Hydrogen bonds. If HF was formed, then each time someone uses fluoridated toothpaste on his teeth, some Hydrofluoric acid would be formed in his mouth, getting burns on soft tissue. Anyhow, if it does happens, it is another reason for NOT to use fluoridated toothpaste.

My real issue is that we’re being medicated without our permission. The water company doesn’t say “do you want the flouridated water or not?” If you live where the water is flouridated you have no choice.
There’s no proven benefit to ingesting flouride with your water, that isn’t more effectively accomplished with a good flouride toothpaste applied topically to your teeth. If you believe flouride is not a health risk, this is the way to insure you’re getting flouride where you want it.
If you want flouride applied to your teeth, just buy flouridated toothpaste and have at it. Of course there is a poison control warning on that tube that no one seems to be too concerned about.

Anyone saying fluoride is not harmful is an idiot and has no clue what they are talking about. The government has knowingly been adding this to our water supply for close to 100 years. Harvard University just release a study CONFIRMING the negative effects of Fluoride on humans. Once the damage of fluoride is done, its irreversible. You can help you kids though. Jen, your beyond wrong. We absolutely have fluoride in out water. I live in PA too. You dont like our state, then gtfo. Less people like you, and the better off we are. There’s a condition called fluoridated teeth, and fluoridated bones, to which children are at greater risk. Whom so ever told you to drink more fluoridated water, for the health of your child, is not a well trained physician.

Look up the ingredients aside from fluoride. Sodium Laureth (lauryl) sulfate. It’s main use is as an engine degreaser.
I use toothpaste with fluoride to kill insects and rodents and you brush your teeth with it? Aren’t you a special kind of stupid.

Uh, you want flouride in your toothpaste but not your drinking water? Poison is poison, and I don’t want it in my toothpaste, drinking water or shower water (it’s absorbed readily through your skin when showering or bathing, or brushing your teeth). So even drinking water filters (the ones that actually can filter flouride, most don’t) only solve one of the problems.
