Turn Water into Blood

Okay, it's not really turning water into blood... it just appears that way. The water into blood demonstration is a safe and easy way to illustrate pH indicators or just to change a liquid from clear to red and back again for fun. All you need is a glass, water, sodium carbonate, and phenolphthalein indicator. If you don't have the indicator, you can use red 'disappearing ink' from a novelty or magic store, which contains the same chemical.
