How Long Can Drugs Be Detected in a Person's System?

Thursday January 1, 2009
Inquiring minds want to know, right? I came across the answer to this question while writing up fact sheets on illegal drugs. You can visit the Office of National Drug Control Policy for a more complete answer to this question, but I'll give you the summary here. The short answer is: up to 90 days, depending on the type of test.

Urine: 1-5 days
Hair: 3 month history, assuming your hair is at least 1-1/2 inches long
Saliva: 10-24 hours
Sweat Patch: 7 days
Breath: usually evidence of a drug currently in the body

These is a good information. Most drug test are conducted through urine sample. I see hair testing to be rare but it seems drug residue stick longer in hair than any other test.
