Names for Everyday Chemicals

Many people know that table salt is sodium chloride, but did you know that cream of tartar is potassium bitartrate or that chalk is calcium carbonate? The chemical names list includes other everyday chemicals, in addition to outdated names for substances. You can use the list to decipher common names or to make sense of old chemical labels or texts.
