Those wild Linux party animals had a conference last week. Part of their festivities included making liquid nitrogen ice cream and mentos and coke fountains, but the fun didn't stop there. They made a video of what happens when you throw liquid nitrogen into a swimming pool. Scroll about halfway down the page for the link to choose your video format. The effect is already beyond cool, but I'd probably add some of those floating colored lamps to the pool and have a lot more nitrogen on hand.

Cool – yet anothe LN trick to add to my book.
The current favorite would be the LN bomb (pour liquid nitrogen into a plastic bottle, seal tightly and run for cover! watch for shrapnel – this could get dangerous)
I think it’s pretty irresponsible to encourage people to play with dangerous chemicals, gasses etc. You’ll only give nutcases ideas for hurting themselves and others (see previous comment). I thought LN can instantly turn your fingers solid if you touch it? In this respect, it’s even more dangerous than conc. sulphuric acid and you wouldn’t encourage people to play around with that would you?

Think, he did a backswing, THEN threw it. It was a, what, parabolic bowl? Perfect way to spill a liquid, try it WITH WATER. Why not just drop a bucket into the pool, oops, lower it so IT doesn’t splash (think of the rim of a man’s toilet, etc.)
Anyway, bombs are cool, sure, they kill so effeciently! Isn’t the firecracker inside a can-in-a-can enough? I made sparkling strawberry wine with a tiny PEA of dry ice in a 2-litre bottle, and that was dicey enough.
Next thing you know, someone will want to be in the pool when it’s thrown. The Gubernator wins the fight with Batman after all!
