No Ricin on UT Student's Quarters

Monday February 27, 2006
Apparently the powder found on a student's laundry coins at the University of Texas (Austin) isn't ricin, as was initially suspected. While the FBI did not disclose the composition of the powder, they did say it did not contain castor bean toxins. According to San Antonio FBI spokesman Rene Salinas, the Texas health officials “just a quick test and they don’t check for the proteins in ricin." That, of course, makes me wonder why they said it was ricin in the first place. For further details, read the breaking news article at MSNBC.
