Cobalt Facts

The metal cobalt gets its name from the German word for 'evil spirit' or the Greek word for 'mine'. Cobalt in mines was poisonous and also contaminated the desired metals, such as nickel or copper. The element has many uses. It is found in alloys, is essential for human and animal nutrition, and gives a characteristic blue color when added to glass. Learn more...
