Today's news tidbit comes from one of my sister sites. About's Mental Health Resources website reports that traces of Prozac (fluoxitine) have been detected in the United Kingdom's water supply. The presence of Prozac in the water raises concerns about the drug's impact on the environment, as well as fears that low-level exposure to the drug may be linked with human infertility. However, what I found most noteworthy about this article was a statistic: 24 million prescriptions are written for Prozac each year in the UK, which has a population of 60 million.
