Iron Nano-Dust Fights Pollution

Thursday November 20, 2003
Australian researchers are using tiny particles of iron to clean up pollution. The billionth of a meter particles of pure iron are highly reactive, meaning they will readily combine with pollutant chemicals and break them down. A major test of the iron dust is scheduled for next year, in which scientists will attempt to use nanoparticles to trap and break down industrial chemicals in ground water under a former Sydney factory site. For more information, read the article at The Sydney Morning Herald.
